Wilton is a town located in Little River County, Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 439.

Wilton is located at 33°44'20" North, 94°8'52" West (33.738916, -94.147654)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there are 439 people, 162 households, and 121 families residing in the town. The population density is 130.4/km² (336.7/mi²). There are 202 housing units at an average density of 60.0/km² (154.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 58.31% White, 40.77% Black or African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.91% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 162 households out of which 30.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.6% are married couples living together, 16.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.3% are non-families. 23.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.71 and the average family size is 3.12.

In the town the population is spread out with 26.0% under the age of 18, 10.0% from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 109.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 108.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $31,696, and the median income for a family is $32,019. Males have a median income of $30,625 versus $16,563 for females. The per capita income for the town is $13,478. 15.2% of the population and 8.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 19.4% of those under the age of 18 and 22.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
