Yvon Chouinard

Yvon Chouinard started out as a modest man heading out of poor Northeast of Canada. He drifted into the center of Californian climbing scene and only to become important part of American climbing history. Set in Yosemite valley, he along with Royal Robbins and Tom Frost developed specialized climbing style which now is called big wall climbing.

During his stint as an American GI in Korea, he met with Sunwoo Choongok to establish earliest high grade routes in Korea

close to grades of Yosemite. Sunwoo Choongok later became a part of his Chouinard Equipment forging soft pitons and carabiners, modern climbing paraphnalia.

In later years, Yvon Chouinard started Patagonia, specialized outdoor clothing lines. Yvon has a classic ice climbing book to his credit and however, to his misfortune, he could not climb high altitude due to his debilitating physical conditions in altitude.

Yvon Chouinard and his company, Patagonia has mixed environmentalism and sound business to achieve the goal of slow company.
