Yvonne Trevino (born January 18, 1967) is a former female boxer and fashion model from Peoria, Arizona.
Trevino was very popular among boxing fans during the 1990s, especially in the Southwestern United States and in her home state of Arizona. Her popularity led her to receive show business opportunities as well, and she modeled sports clothing for various important magazines and companies.
Trevino grew in a boxing family, and her brothers used to be fighters as well; Trevino became a boxing fan since he was a small girl and she started to join her brothers at the local boxing gym from a very young age.
On September 18, 1993, she joined the professional women's boxing ranks with a four round decision over Chris Kreuz in Ddavenport, Iowa. For her second bout, on Apri 8, 1994, she met the debutante Bridgett Riley, who handed Trevino her first defeat, with a decision win over Yvonne in Laughlin, Nevada.
Despite losing that bout and then taking a year off boxing, she was given her first world title try in only her third bout, and, on April 20, 1995, she caused what perhaps could be described as a mild upset, knocking out Regina Halmich in four rounds at Las Vegas and becoming the WIBF's world Flyweight champion.
Despite the fact that her next opponent, Delia Gonzalez, was a well known boxer, the WIBF refused to sanction their fight as a world championship bout, and so, on June 1, 1996, the two opponents fought to a four round technical draw (tie), also in Las Vegas.
Trevino then won five fights in a row, including a first round knockout win over Jolene Blackshear, and a successful defense against Suzanne Riccio, beaten by a ten round decision, before she and Riley were rematched, with the IFBA's world Bantamweight championship on the line. Trevino lost the fight on February 15, 1998, when she was outpointed by Riley.
She returned to the Flyweight division, but she lost the WIBF's world Flyweight title in her next fight, being beaten by Para Draine on August 8.
Trevino then won two of her next four fights, the wins coming against Gonzalez and Riccio in rematches, and losing to Kathy Williams and Kelcie Jeffries.
Despite having won only two of her last four bouts, Trevino surprised many of her fans when she announced her retirement after the loss to Jeffries. She mentioned wanting to become a full time mother and also managing a boxing gym among the reasons for her retirement.
Yvonne Trevino had a record of 9 wins, five losse and 1 draw with five wins by knockout. She was never knocked out as a professional boxer.
